Willie Kent has cancer.
The diagnosis came after a rough winter, the last three months of which he was too ill to work.

This is serious, but not yet a tragedy. He started chemotherapy on March 30, 2005, and so far, the chemo has gone well. On April 15th, just hours after the second chemo treatment, Willie was onstage at Blue Chicago working his first full night since January (and gave an excellent show!). Since then he’s been working his way back to a normal schedule, with a positive eye toward the future.

But he needs help to get there.

As any musician can tell you, if you don’t work, you don’t earn money. As any cancer patient on Medicare can tell you, the medical costs that must come from your own pocket are enormous. Willie Kent started cancer treatment at the end of almost three months without work. That means his medical costs already add up to more money than he has - and the treatments are far from finished.
